Leg Press Calf Raises Basics

How To Perform The Leg Press Calf Raises
- Assume a correct position in the leg press machine and push to the top position of a traditional leg press with your legs fully extended. Make sure that you gripping onto the hand bards as well.
- From this position, move your feet to the edge of the leg press platform allowing your heels to be off of the edge.
- Now plantar flex the feet, pushing the weight away from the body and rising up onto your toes. This motion will cause the muscles in the calves to contract.
- When the desired number of repetitions are completed, return your feet to a standard leg press position, and return the weight to the top position, and places the safety pins in correct position.
- Once the safety pins are in place, you may return the leg press seat to the resting position and step off of the machine.
Leg Press Calf Raises Tips
- Make sure you keep your feet in a neutral position when performing the leg press calf raise. This means your feet should be perfectly north and south without them burned turned inward or outward.

This leg press calf raises really allows for a very focused training of the calf muscles. This exercise is great for strength and power gains in the calf muscles. This strength is very important for improvements in speed and jump height, which are critical athletic components in many sports.
